aslantin forty-eight hours i will be most of the way to texas.
but god, / the distance, / unbearable as / a clean room.

this morning d & m & i sat around trying to remember if this is the month we're supposed to write the checks to the new landlord. mr fair market value, mr mortgage, mr raise the rent. it will be nice to have a landlord who speaks english, though. jean-baptiste (mr current landlord, mr jolly haitian) barged in the other night with a friend & a ladder and began putting up smoke alarms in every room. he's trying to impress the fire marshal at the inspection today.
unfortunately mr new landlord runs a karate school in davis square. so i have a feeling if we demand use of the basement washer & dryer (my plan) or use of the backyard (d's plan) he might just go all black-belt on our collective ass.
we could just threaten to move out. fuck it. it's home, but just for once, one fucking time, i'd like to rent an apartment that isn't so shady. not a single place i've lived in boston has been 100% above the board.

Date: 2003-04-24 09:37 am (UTC)funny thing: in the huge food emporium under an over pass on the east side/midtown in manhattan, some woman heard me talking to megan and shante about your soup! (cause we were by mushrooms and it reminded me of it) and she asked me for the recipe!
i told her what i remembered was in there.

Date: 2003-04-24 10:46 am (UTC)although i did invent a soup recently. i sauteed 2 c of shitake mushrooms in a bit of garlic & oil, and added them to three c of vegetable broth (from cubes). then i stirred in a beaten egg so it turned into little egg-drop strands. i want to try it with ramen noodles added, too. yummy. also not terribly filling, unlike the mushroom barley soup.

i had one for you awhile ago but then the things didn't seem important any more.
re: sickness, it sucks but i'm getting better. went to the dr's this morning and got antibiotics prescribed for my tonsilitis. so i'm on the road to recovery!

Date: 2003-04-24 01:36 pm (UTC)i'm so glad you liked the journal :) and yes, you can send everything back to lesley ave. i guess i'll really only be gone for a week, although it feels like a month. i can't even comprehend not being at work for a week. or a week away from my bed! my laptop! rah. & i am convinced i am going to miss all of the magnolia trees blooming, and that is my favorite part about spring in boston.
don't feel you *have* to answer the questions :) a lot of them are more things-to-think-about topics.
