Nov. 4th, 2003 04:08 pmday four of nanowrimo! i have been working diligently on the novel. i am hesitant to call it "my novel" for some reason. i'm having much more fun this year that i did last year, probably because i'm actually telling a story instead of wringing tedious autobiographical fiction from my own life. hazel hasn't even reached the chestnut house itself yet. it's fun.
i'm wrestling a little bit with the fact that the writing style is nowhere near a finished product. i slip into a very verbose mode of writing, simply because i'm going for length rather than quality at this point. but what's exciting to me is that i'm already one-fifth of the way there (10,387 words as of this afternoon) and i may overshoot the 50,000 word mark by the end of the month, thus having time and space to edit it down, and actually refine the language to sound less, um, diarrhoeic.
