Aug. 20th, 2004 07:06 pma giant thunder & lightning storm is pushing through and the air is filled with strange dusk-tinged lightning and rain, while on the walk home it was so thick with humidity i'm surprised it didn't spontaneously turn into rain. i had to claw my way out of my clothes when i got home, they were so sweaty. i am glad i didn't dawdle any more on the way home--i stopped for whipped cream & raspberries & blackberries. i miss blackberries in oregon, they grow wild in enormous prickly banks in my parents' backyard. they become so ripe and full with sugar that they practically burst when you pick them, and then your hands are covered in a purpley-blue dye. very pleasing.
my dad is in norway right now. i asked for something....norwegian, but i don't think he knows what i meant. and in september my parents are going to france to visit their friends who are living there for a few years. i want french stationary, or something small and pretty and pleasing. when raheli was in denmark she came back with a beautiful metal lunchbox that fastened with hooks on either side. i want something like that, something beautiful and well-designed and useful and perfect.
now the lightning is pealing out like a long length of fabric ripping, and through the window it is hard to see the other side of the street.
