(no subject)

yesterday i went with liz to her new beautiful apartment. mike is out of town, so i was the designated Measuring Tape Girl. it was fun, she said i was good at it. i measured every room dimension, including window placement, outlets, radiators, closets, etc, and she sketched out the spaces on paper. she has some schmancy graphing program to make a mock-up of the space and figure things out beforehand. i am so jealous that they get to move into a new apartment, i want to design the entire look of the space and install giant walls of books. i want the time and income to do something new with our apartment, but i fear a new queen-size bed is the greatest excitement we'll be experiencing in the next several months.

then last night i was looking around online and realized that jonathan strange & mr norrell was finally out. at 10:30 i was seized with an absolute need to be reading it at that precise second! so we jumped in the car and drove down to harvard square and i bought it, lickety-split. within less than twenty minutes! this was even more fun because it is rather cool at night now and it really felt like fall outside. there were apprxoimately a million harvard kids swarming all over the grafton street pub and i realize how much i am not looking forward to that part of autumn, but oh well.

the moral of the story: go read jonathan strange & mr norrell! you'll be glad you did.
