18 fahrenheit / -7 celsius.

my parents sent us a fancy digital humidifier as an early christmas present, so now we know digitally how fucking dry it is in the house. we wake up with sore throats sometimes from it. but it makes funny clicks when it turns on and off during the night, and i didn't want to be woken up, so we left it off. this morning it was 35% and dropping when we turned it on. optimal indoor humidity is supposed to be 50% :( but at 55% the other night we both slept divinely and could breathe easily in the morning for the first time in a long time. i recommend one to everyone!

we really really really need to set our humidifier back up. we used it for a few days in november and then it started making funny noises and we haven't tried to figure out why. and it's so dry. ick. in the morning i always feel so parched.

yes. it is bad in our apartment. i hate how heat dries everything out! the thing is, ours is a cool mist humidifier (invisible mist though), and if we want to be both warm and hydrated at night it's like we're paying double utilities...gas for heat & electric for cool, and they'll compete and cancel each other out. bah. we should just wear wool caps to bed and be done with heat entirely.
