i came across my treasured shoebox of cassette tapes yesterday while burning old cds to my laptop. and now i really want one of these: a plusdeck 2 to convert my tapes to digital format. too bad it is like $150-$180.

(though i think between k and my dad i could scare up the right cables to connect a tapedeck directly to the laptop, as discussed here. but that's not as fun!)

hee hee! wish I'd thought of this! Do they make one for my 8-track collection? I really miss listening to the Ray Conniff Singers with the big ker-THUNK in the middle of Una Paloma Blanca.

I don't really have 8-tracks, but I have got waay too many cassettes and LP's. I can't throw them out-- it's like walking through my own little personal music history museum.

i would hazard a guess the set-up would be similar (though not with the cool in-dash cassette deck interface) for other analog-to-digital adventures. the real thing being sold is the software with the fancypants gui, that eliminates the hissing sound. though i sorta like that part best!

i asked him the other day when he was going to update or something, anything using his computer at work. he's got himself a cubicle and everything now! but apparently he's more productive than me and does not use his time at work to make lots of updates. oh well. i'll tell him to drop you a line!
