new shoes i bought yesterday. so comfortable! they are the first pair of high heels i have been able to wear since the surgery last summer. the scar is not pretty to me -- the line is not tight and too blurred, and i am still kind of self-conscious about it. i've definitely caught some stares in public. the hardware is not painful, but i hate how it deforms the line of my already-lumpy, short ankles.

in other news, it turns out that a job i was going to apply for today is not on a portland campus, but rather in klamath falls, a six hour drive south of here. boo hiss.

thank you! (i am calling them my dancing shoes in hopes that kirk will take me out.)

i've treated them very periodically with lotion and scar treatment. i'm very bad at moisturizing anything that's not my face. i should do more. i just worry that it won't really change the part that really bothers me, which is the blurriness. it might reduce the redness a bit, though.

what if you set a schedule to moisturize right before bed and right out of the shower every day? i apply so many goops to varying parts of my body twice a day that it's hard for me to imagine having trouble doing it :). i don't really know what aspects of the scar will change.

i think the silicone pads are meant to be worn for days at a time? so you wouldn't have to apply anything daily.

i could link it to showering, i guess. do you recommend a particular scar gel/cream in particular? i've tried two; a derma-e gel that seemed light and useless, and an onion extract goop that was so gummy and sticky on my hands afterward that it didn't seem worth it! i do want to try the commercial patch thing that just stays on for a while.

the onion extract sounds awful! i guess you could try applying it with a q-tip, if you still have it around. i don't have any specific recommendations, just for vitamin e in general.

well, it was gross but my sister swears by it! haha. i didn't think of q-tips, good idea :)

also, every time i've gone to buy plain vitamin e gel there are so many stupid additives and other things mixed with it. i need to try a health food store and buy it just plain.
