cloverfield, an owl, and finally getting over my hair salon neuroses

1. kirk and i finally watched cloverfield last night. i was surprised they showed the monster so much and so early. i wonder if i would have been freaked out if i'd seen it in the theater? as it was i was scared enough, but mostly interested in how they kept the whole conceit going. my brain is definitely WAY INTERESTED in thinking about the movie all the time, all night and all day. woo, go brain! let's relive it again!

2. meet a new inhabitant of my kitchen windowsill:

he is made of iron and imported from japan. the same people who make those iron teakettles, i think.

3. haircut tonight!

i adore the iron owl, he is a fine windowsill companion. i agree with your iwachu assessment--something in his style reminds me a bit of a cast iron incense burner of theirs that i've wanted for years.

my windowsill owl is, i think, supposed to distribute parmesan cheese as she has a holes at the back of her head and a big fat cork behind her ears. she's also a rather vibrant pink with little yellow daisies adorning her sides. when we retrieve her from illinois, i'll take her picture so our owls can meet.

mine came with a sticker indicating a company, which i looked up and they do make iron teakettles. i wish i could remember their name -- i get it confused with marimekko (wrong country!) or morimoto (thank you, iron chef). i think it was an m-word, anyway :)
