let us gather in the narthex
Nov. 23rd, 2001 04:48 pmso the same people from yesterday are back here again. and we're eating what we ate yesterday. so, is it still thanksgiving today? is it groundhog day?
c's grandma is poking at the bananas. no! i will scream at her any second. those are for the vegan banana bread. back, fiend!
today i bought the new strokes cd.
this is an unbearably small town. in a store a dark-haired woman by the unlikely name of gogi peppered c with questions. told us a little more than we wanted to know about the state of her children's facial ailments, etc. so, are you seeing anyone? she asks c. i know i'm being nosy but i'm asking anyway! c tells her about mr m. gogi turns to me. i contemplate fabricating some elaborate story about zimbabwe, tragic accidents, evil twins. lamely i reply no, i broke up with someone just recently. i smile sickly at her. i breath sick germs in her direction deliberately.
i hope her pottery shop smashes all across the happy little white-shuttered street. small towns kill me.
the aunt i cannot stand is here, again. she eyes me with a glum and calculating look. she says i don't want your banana bread competing with my cranberry walnut loaf.
