is anyone out there in internet land playing inane video games in their spare time? because i certainly am. mario sunshine is the obsession du jour and kirk and i just sit there on the couch every day screaming like two stark raving lunatics at the television as happy little 3D mario goes hopping down into the abyss of death yet again. that shit is so painful. i have to hide my face in the pillow and beg for sweet merciful death, every time. there is this evil thing that happens: there is nice normal mario world where you walk around in town-type places, but then occasionally you go into a weird surreal little world suspended over an abyss of death and you have to cross it on giant satanic rotating tinker toys. tinker toys! the whole time, the familiar little mario song is playing except it's being sung by little doot doot doot doo-dooo-do-doo computer voices, a veritable chorus of them, cheerfully mocking and taunting your every wasted effort to reach that godamn shiney sunstar thingy on the other side of the abyss.

fucking silent hill 3 is how we rest from mario sunshine. pathetic or inspiring? you decide. i have the little abyss-of-death theme song stuck in my head as we speak. doot doot doot.

the mario theme song is my cell phone's ring. everyone but myself and yvonne are sick of hearing it. we can't get enough. her old nintendo broke. so did the sega thingie. oh we are sad people.

sadly, i only got to play once before her cat chewed through the rest of the controller cords. i wouldn't win anything, that's for damn sure. but hey, i'd try.
