because of my stint working in a gift shop that sold a lot of junky novelties, i live in occasional, irrelevant fear that i will someday own a store and somehow see some logic in stocking items like this myself.
a few weeks ago, i read an article in the new york times about symbols of the jewish faith becoming trendy. apparently, madonna is cashing in on this for all its worth. also, brittany spears is among those wearing kabbalah inspired jewlery.
it makes me want to throw my shoes. but then i wonder, is this really different from a few years ago when buddhist prayer beads were all the rage? :/
yeah, madonna has been wearing the red string bracelet thing for over a year now, and so has britney, after she became close to madonna with their music collaboration project/s.
i am just so surprised that they might get away with this $26 nonsense. i don't care what holy land they carted it to or what prayers they said over it, people buying it from target are not in it for the religious side of it and might as well buy plain thread or embroidery floss!
