this is what i saw when i opened the front door at 8:15 a.m.


this is just the drift that had been blown onto the covered front porch. at the sidewalk (which i did not want to go wading out to) it looked about 2-4 inches deeper.


there's someone's poor car (with a large snow-covered bush in the foreground). there is a plowed bank of snow at the end of the driveway there, which is about four feet deep and maybe as wide as a car.


they are saying you are putting your life at risk! so i decided not to attend the rest of the conference this morning. it's supposed to get worse over the next two or three hours, with as much as 4 inches falling per hour.

it is also incredibly powdery...there are sculpted banks of snow in the driveway with peaks like sand dunes. very cool-looking, but it kind of wrecks what the plows are trying to do.
