year in review

what i did in 2006:

wrote a zine, printed the cover on my new letterpress
bought rollerskates and learned how to skate
jan-july: ate healthy, worked out a lot, lost ~25lbs
applied to graduate school
tried out for the boston derby dames
spent one month skating my ass off with bdd
broke my ankle
got into harvard
spent the summer recovering from ankle surgery
spent a lot of time being depressed and anxious about ankle (and weight re-gained)
learned how to walk again
went back to school, met some amazing people there
got engaged to the love of my life on christmas eve

thank you, laurel! there have been many ups and downs, it's hard to look back and realize that my injury has finally been outweighed by other lovely things (school, love).

there is not a big story behind it...it was a very private proposal, just the two of us, though it was fun to announce it to his family on christmas morning!! and then i called my parents and my best friend and everyone cried happy tears.

we have another couple weeks to decide whether or not we want to hold it as soon as june, right after i graduate. i want it to be very small and informal, but even that may be difficult to plan while i'm in school.

the ankle business was bad, but roller derby sure was amazing fun while it lasted! i still have all my gear, maybe i will go back to it someday...
