i have heard there is some sort of petition circling in england to abolish friday afternoon working? is this true? what an idea. if you really had everybody tell the truth, would anyone say they got any work done on friday afternoons?
i shouldn't start thinking about this, because i'll just be fixated on the fact that it's not friday today.....
I wish it was true, but I haven't heard that. and I actually think I get a lot more work done on Fridays, because Im in a better mood and I dont have to wear a suit. I really hate wearing a suit.
what they were thinking about, is having "duvet days" (a duvet is a blanket) where you could, twice a year, just call in and say you don't feel like going to work. I think that's an excellent idea. and people that didn't use them, would HAVE to at the end of the year - because there is always someone that never ever takes a day off.

i do that, i never take days off. i'm never sick, and unless it's my birthday i never have to leave work. but maybe that will change now that i'll be working all year long and not just during the summers when school's out.
i always thought, though, that if i didn't use up my sick time, then i could pick a day in the dead of winter when it's ridiculously cold, and call in "sick". and snuggle up under my comforter (my duvet, i suppose) and forget about the world.
you really have to wear a suit to work? that sounds awfully formal. it's rare for companies to require suits here unless you're working in banking or law.
I don't call in sick often. when I AM sick, I ten to go to work, because who wants to waste a day off being ill?
a comforter is a blanket too? it really entertains me, the differences between the US and the UK... like, you all think we drink iced tea, right? whereas we find it very strange for it not to be hot. and it should have milk in it.

hm, i've never considered the english to be iced tea drinkers. southerners (in the us) drink a lot of iced tea, with a LOT of sugar. bleh.
i've never mastered the art of putting milk in tea, although it seems like a good idea. when i do it, it ends up looking like discolored milk. i like tea without milk, though, so that solves my problem right there...
i once read a conversation between two younger kids on lj, one from the north of england, the other from the us. the english kid couldn't quite get across what tea was. it's like our supper, right? well the other girl was really confused, didn't understand how there could be a kind of tea that "fills you up." she thought it was some new brand that we don't have in the us, but the other kid was just trying to explain the meal...
yeah, i think you're a little resentful about not working at clever stuff :) did you want to work there before you started at cms? or was it just a coincidence that they're in the building?
you should become a guerilla employee. set up a desk in the back of their offices where no one will notice. go back there as if you've worked there all along. they'll be forced to hire you sooner or later.
do you have lots of blankets on your bed? I just have a huuuuge duvet. and like 6 pillows.

i think you should make a discrete inquiry about if they have any openings. maybe make a vague comment about how your current employer doesn't take kindly to you being down there all the time (even if that's a tiny lie). just make it look like you're super busy, even though you enjoy working w/ them, and that "it would be so much easier," haha, "if i were working for clever stuff! you should put me on the payroll, haha." joke about it. that'll get them thinking.

I have been asking them for a job for three months! downright, blatantly saying "you should give me a job". and they ALL agree. every single person down there. but - they can't afford me yet. either that - or they figure they can get away with me working upstairs, using me sometimes, and not having to pay me for it.

oh no! not enough money! they sound suspiciously like a dotcom. i hope they don't go under. with the productivity they've gained through your help they ought to have saved enough to afford you by now.

CMS, kind of owns them - but not really. it's very complex, but they do have financial backing. I could find another job very easily anyways - fortunately. it took me a week to get this one.
like - I move from the first pillow, to the next - because it's cooler, and then when I run out of pillows, I put the ones at the bottom on the top :) haha. Im glad you find it fascinating :)
